In recognition of the importance of creating a healthy and safe environment for all, has been developed and implemented a comprehensive “Smoke-Free or Tobacco Free Policy”, with effect from 2021. This policy reflects our commitment to promoting the well-being of our students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Policy Statement

MM(DU) prohibits smoking and the use of tobacco products on all of its owned or operated properties. The policy is applicable to all individuals on campus, including students, faculty, staff, contractors and visitors.

Various advisories and notifications have been displayed in and around the campus .Enforcement of the smoke-free policy is a shared responsibility among all members of the MM(DU) community. Reports of violations are taken seriously and appropriate measures are taken to ensure compliance with the policy.

Support for Tobacco Cessation

MM(DU) provides support for individuals seeking to quit smoking. Resources, including counseling services and information on smoking cessation programs, are made available to students, faculty and staff.

Review and Amendments

This policy remains subject to periodic reviews to ensure its continued effectiveness and alignment with the evolving needs of the MM (DU) community. The smoke-free policy underwent periodic review in 2022 to assess its effectiveness and relevance. Amendments were made as needed to address emerging issues related to smoking and tobacco use on campus.

  1. Student-Led Initiatives: The initiatives, such as peer support groups and awareness events, have played a pivotal role in creating a sense of shared responsibility for maintaining a smoke-free campus. These initiatives have become integral to the MM (DU)’s broader health and wellness efforts.
  2. Continuous Improvement: Regular surveys and feedback mechanisms are employed to gauge the effectiveness of the policy and identify areas for enhancement. The insights gathered are used to refine educational materials, communication strategies and support services.

MM(DU) remains committed to providing a campus environment that promotes the health and well-being of all its members. MM(DU) will continue to adapt and refine the Smoke-Free Policy in response to the evolving needs of the community, ensuring that it remains an effective tool in creating a clean, healthy, and supportive learning and working environment.
